Seasonal Landfill Methane Emissions

Andrew Hallward-Driemeier's study on seasonal landfill methane emissions was published in Environmental Science & Technology in May 2026! The study developed a new approach to quantify monthly methane emissions from an active landfill using long-term measurements from a single tower. The estimated emissions showed a strong seasonal cycle and were five times greater than those reported to the national inventory. Andrew’s paper was also highlighted by Columbia Climate School news!
